BIOGRAPHY
Derek Jackson is a Pop artist based in Harrisonburg, Virginia. Largely self-taught, Jackson began experimenting with art at a young age, later taking a few high school art classes before continuing to refine his techniques independently. Over the years, he has explored acrylic painting, pottery, and photography, developing a vibrant and distinctive Pop Art style.
Through his work, Jackson investigates themes of loneliness, longing, and nostalgia—filtered through a colorful, satirical lens that examines how social media and modern technology shape human emotion and perception.
Jackson’s recent solo exhibition, Can I Say Something?, was held at Hotel Madison, with prints from the series showcased at BMC Bakes in Harrisonburg. His work has also been featured in Artio Gallery’s Global Horizons: A Celebration of Artistic Expression, ArtistCloseup Magazine #16, Visual Art Journal, and New Visionary Magazine, as well as in Lady Gaga’s Super Deluxe Fame Monster Edition. He was also profiled in an interview by Adelé Kotzé for ArtistCloseup.
Jackson is a member of the Arts Council of the Valley, the D.C. Art Center, the Second Street Gallery in Charlottesville, and the New Visionary Directory. His work is held in private collections throughout the United States and has been exhibited in multiple venues across Virginia.
