The Many Judgments of Korra explores the tension between perception and identity, placing a fractured figure at the center of relentless scrutiny. Inspired by classical ideals of perfection, Korra appears as a marble bust—cracked, weathered, and incomplete—yet still standing. Surrounding hands point inward from all directions, not in guidance, but in accusation. Their gestures echo louder than the figure itself, turning observation into pressure.

The work reflects a society conditioned to evaluate before it understands. Each fracture in Korra’s surface becomes a site of commentary, where imperfection is amplified and humanity is overlooked. The bright, almost explosive backdrop contrasts with the muted figure, suggesting how criticism often overshadows the subject it claims to define.

Rather than presenting the cracks as failure, the piece questions the source of judgment itself. Is Korra broken, or is she being broken by the weight of expectation? The painting challenges viewers to confront their role in this dynamic—to consider how quickly we point, label, and measure others against impossible standards
