Acrylic on Canvas with Vinyl on Acrylic

24" x 30" x 2"

A suspended moment between control and collapse, 09/28/09 captures the disorienting sensation of falling—physically, emotionally, or psychologically. Two shadowed figures drift across a heavily textured surface, their forms reduced to silhouettes, stripped of identity and grounded detail. One appears larger, closer, heavier—pulled downward—while the other hovers above, distant and detached, suggesting either memory, witness, or echo.

The aggressive contrast of red and white creates a charged environment: red presses in from the edges like tension, urgency, or trauma, while white fractures through the center in thick, scraped layers, evoking rupture, resistance, or a desperate attempt at clarity. The physicality of the paint—dragged, carved, and layered—mirrors the emotional weight of the scene.

The date as the title anchors the abstraction in something real and specific, implying a moment that cannot be forgotten, yet cannot be fully explained. The figures are not just falling—they are suspended in time, caught between before and after.
